MEETINGS OF THE COMMISSION <br />During the Water Year ending September 30, 1998 the Commission met <br />as follows: <br />Meeting No. 234 May 27, 1998 Salt Lake City, Utah <br />ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMISSION <br />Within the scope and limitations of Article I(a) of the Upper Colorado River <br />Basin Compact and under the powers conferred upon the Commission by Article <br />VIII(d1, the principal activities of the Commission have consisted of: (AI research <br />and studies of an engineering and hydrologic nature of various facets of the water <br />resources of the Colorado River Basin especially as related to operation of the <br />Colorado River reservoirs; (B) collection and compilation of documents for a legal <br />library relating to the utilization of waters of the Colorado River System for <br />domestic, industrial and agricultural purposes, and the generation of hydroelectric <br />power; (C) legal analyses of associated laws, court decisions, reports and problems; <br />ID) participation in activities and providing comments on proposals that would <br />increase the beneficial consumptive uses in the Upper Basin, including envi- <br />ronmental, fish and wildlife, endangered species and water quality activities to the <br />extent that they might impair Upper Basin development; (E) cooperation with water <br />resources agencies of the Colorado River Basin States on water and water-related <br />problems; (F) an education and information program designed to aid in securing <br />appropriations of funds by the United States Congress for the construction, planning <br />and investigation of storage dams, reservoirs and water resource development <br />projects of the Colorado River Storage Project that have been authorized for <br />construction and to secure authorization for the construction of additional <br />participating projects as the essential investigations and planning-are completed; and <br />(G) a legislative program consisting of the analysis and study of water resource bills <br />introduced in the U.S. Congress for enactment, the preparation of evidence and <br />argument and the presentation of testimony before the Committees of the <br />Congress. <br />
