<br />20 <br />CORN LAKE <br />~ I. Introduction <br />A. Physical parameters <br />1. Management category - #140 (Warmwater put & take and put-grow & <br />~ take lakes < 100 ac) <br />2. Drainage -Colorado River <br />3. Size - 10 surface acres <br />4. Location - 2.5 miles south of Clifton on 32 Road; <br /> T1 S, R1 E, Sec. 22 <br />5. Elevation - 4,620 feet <br />~ 6. Maximum depth - 20 feet <br />7. Inlet information -Corn Lake receives its water from irrigation <br /> diversions and groundwater. <br />8. Dike description -berm is natural cobble alluvium with a road <br /> constructed along the top of roadbase material. Direction of river is <br /> parallel to the berm so erosional forces are minimal. <br />• <br />B. Physical Description: Corn Lake is an old gravel pit that lies in the <br />floodplain of the Colorado River. The lake is part of the Colorado State <br />Parks system. <br />C. Existing fish community - In 1993 rainbow trout, black bullhead, green <br />~ sunfish, common carp, white suckers, and fathead minnows were present. <br />Carp are abundant. Rainbows are stocked as catchable size fish. Goldfish <br />present. <br />II. Management strategy <br />~ A. Manage as a mixed species recreational fishery for largemouth bass, <br />bluegill, black crappie and catchable size rainbow trout. <br />B. Special regulations should be adopted for providing a quality fishery for <br />largemouth bass (2 fish > 15"1 and to extend the annual yield of bluegill <br />~ (10 fish bag). <br />III. Stocking purpose and need <br />A. Rationale/Justification for selecting the species <br />• 1. Increase fishing opportunity (Long Range Plan Goals 12, 12.1, and <br />12.3 and Regional Operations Plan FISH 0300(1?. <br />2. Lake provides warmwater fish habitat rather than Coldwater fish <br />habitat. <br />• <br />
