WASTEFUL WATER PRACTICES
NPCA RECOMMENDATIONS: Federal and state programs should be established that provide incentives
for, or compel the adoption of, water conservation measures where existing or potential demand for
water threatens national park,resources.
Congress Should:
1. Enact legislation to provide incentives-for,, or compel adoption of; water conservation or reallocation
measures in water-short areas where existing or potential demand for water threatens, park resources.
Incentives could include tax credits ancVOr matching funds foi the implementation of effective water con-
,: nervation measures.
2. Initiate programs to discourage or prohibit the "mining" of ground water resources-from aquifers
which supply water to parks.
