Modern Amargosa River is little but a travesty <br />on the name, its course now largely occupied by a perennially dry bcil <br />except at its headwaters and at certain intermittent points, far-space(l. <br />dowu-channel. <br />About 175 miles in total length, the Anthrgosa heads west of 7,425- <br />foot Timber Mountain above Beatty (southern Nye County) and <br />courses southerly throu-it Ammrgosa Desert and Valley, respectively. <br />where it swings sharply west and enters the southern tip of Death <br />Valley.
