<br />Aesthetic Values <br /> <br />The non-consumptive users of wetlands <br />have greatly increased in recent years. <br />Historically hunters and trappers were the <br />primary users of wetlands, but today there <br />are many birdwatchers, students and <br />teachers, artists, cross country skiers, and <br />other persons who regularly visit wet- <br />lands. Some federal, state, county, city, <br />and even private wetlands are now set <br />aside strictly for nature study and non- <br />consumptive uses. In such areas visitors <br /> <br />are often accommodated with board- <br />walks and other conveniences that pro- <br />vide easy access. This type of use <br />requires a different form of management <br />than most landowners are concerned <br />with. Individual landowners can some- <br />times make a profit by selling or leasing a <br />wetland to an agency or organization for <br />such use. <br /> <br /> <br />11 <br />
