Common, <br />protected by game fish regulations <br />STATE BY STATE SUMMARY OF AUTHORITY AND MANAGEMENT POLICY <br />FOR THREATENED AND NONGAME SPECIES <br />Arizona - The Department of Game and Fish has authority to establish programs for <br />" management and preservation of all wildlife. Two biologists are assigned to <br />nongame species, with the emphasis on federally recognized endangered <br />or threatened species. The Department has publishda list of "Threatened <br />Wildlife of Arizona." <br />California - The Department of Fish and Game has authority to protect and manage rare. <br />endangered and threatened species, and it has a cooperative agreement <br />with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to work with endangered species on <br />the federal list. The Department has three full-timewitdlife biologists and <br />two full-time fishery biologists assigned to rare and endangered and <br />and nongame species. <br />Colorado - The Division of Wildlife has statutory authority to protectand manage all wildlife <br />including state and federally listed threatened and endangered species as <br />well as species classified as nongame. The Colorado Nongame Staff <br />consists of one supervisor, one secretary and five biologists involved in <br />research and management of aquatics, birds, marna mis, reptiles, amphib- <br />ians and raptors. Primary emphasis is directed at recovery of state and <br />federally listed threatened and endangered species by captive breeding. <br />translocation or reintroduction.
