When we look at <br />the various alternatives, particularly in Colorado, the ramifications <br />filter throughout that whole framework. <br />Finally, to reiterate John's point concerning how much water is <br />in the river, the system originally developed based on optimistic <br />estimates. Currently, total consumptive uses in the river, in each <br />of the states, is about 11.5 million acre-feet. When the Mexican <br />Treaty delivery of 1.5 million acre-feet is added the total is 13 <br />million acre-feet. I think we need to be very careful when we <br />consider proposals to lease unused entitlements or give up Colorado's <br />entitlement. <br />In my next discussion, I will address the importance of knowing <br />exactly what Colorado's entitlement is so that we can have a solid <br />basis for making these decisions. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />17 <br />
