,

and winter is higher than that during spring. Potential dollar losses have
not been fully assessed.

Asoinall Unit

Section 7 on the Aspinall Unit is still in the early study phase. Questions
relating to timing and volume of flow have not been addressed although target
flows in occupied habitats in the Colorado have been recommended which suggest
that flows may need to be returned to a more natural hydrograph. This would
include high flows in spring and stable low flows in summer and winter. Power
production should not be impacted greatly since Crystal is are-regulatory
structure and power is produced as a flow through or run of river system.
Earlier research in the Gunnison River system pointed to temperatures as a
potential problem for the mainstem endangered fishes.. Water volumes,
temperatures, and other related factors will need to be studied before any
I

recommendations can be made on the protection of listed fishes in the
Gunnison/Colorado Rivers. Study flows will be recommended which can then be
correlated with squawfish and razorback reproductive and recruiting success.

Nava.io

Recent events in southwest Colorado related to the construction of the An1mas-
LaPlata project have focused attention on the presence of Colorado squawfish
and razorback sucker in the San Juan River. Continued negotiation on an MOU
and a Recovery Implementation Program for the San Juan River fishes ;s almost
a daily affair in our regional and field offices. The draft biological
opinion for ALP calls for 300.000 AF of water to be made available to the fish
