<br />Biological Monitoring <br /> <br />Benthic Macroinvertebrate sampling: <br /> <br />· follows Rapid Bioassessment Protocols developed by U.S. EPA <br /> <br />· samples are collected Spring/Summer/Fall <br /> <br />· organisms are collected using the kick-net method <br /> <br />· organisms are identified to the order level <br /> <br />· data is analyzed using the following indices: <br /> <br />1. organism density per sample <br />2. EPT Richness <br />3. EPT/Chironomidae ratio <br />4. Percent Composition <br /> <br />River Watch Responsibilities: <br /> <br />· provide all lab and field equipment needed for monitoring <br /> <br />· provide all reagents for lab procedures <br /> <br />· provide training in lab and collection procedures <br /> <br />· provide technical support and maintenance of equipment <br /> <br />· conduct data analysis sessions <br /> <br />Participating Schools Responsibilities: <br /> <br />· monitor sample sites once a month during sampling season <br /> <br />· follow procedures in monitoring plan <br /> <br />· report data <br /> <br />. provide transportation to sampling sites and substitute costs <br /> <br />Obtaining C."edible Data With a Volunteer Program <br /> <br />MHRWP Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan Consists of: <br /> <br />1. 1 duplicate/lO sample sites <br />2. Known Standards (high and low concentration) <br />3. Spike samples <br />4.
