Large boulders are generally lacking in this reach, the gradient is <br />flat and the substrate is dominated by sand. <br /> <br />Hydrographs that summarize the 82-year period of record for the Maybell gauge <br />and flow were given in the 1998 progress report (Anderson 1998). The mean monthly <br />flow for September 1998 (188 cfs) was less than the average of the mean monthly flows <br />for the period of record for September (250 cfs). The August (495 cfs) and October (373 <br />cfs) mean monthly flows for 1998 were higher than the average of the mean monthly <br />flows for the period of record for August (391 cfs) and October (354 cfs). The minimum <br />flow during the study period occurred on September 12, at 115 cfs (Figure 2), and was <br />close to the median minimum flow (129 cfs).
