This method has <br />been used world-wide to assist people in strategic participative planning and a democratic work <br />redesign. It is a collaborative method that results in astounding dedication from its participants <br />to the ideals held in common by all. The process takes an ecological approach, focusing on the <br />interrelationship of people and their environment, incorporating past and present to create a <br />desirable future. <br /> <br />Recently, Ms. Neelan facilitated three conferences that focused on growth and development <br />impacting Colorado: The Governor's Conference on Smart Growth (1,050 leaders from around <br />Colorado), Rural Resort Region Symposium (260 people from a 5-county region), and Vampa <br />Valley Leadership Summit and Vampa River Basin Partnership (50 to 250 people from Routt <br />and Moffatt Counties, Colorado). <br /> <br />Ms. Neelan's professional experience at various levels includes: <br /> <br />International Level <br /> <br />Research successful Eco-tourism operations in Central America and Southeast Asia. Provided <br />advice to Caribbean National Forest, Puerto Rico. Assisted the Philippine government with the <br />design and development of a community-based ece-tourism partnership on the northern island <br />of Luzon. <br /> <br />National Level <br /> <br />Meetings with numerous federal and state agencies, environmental groups and NGOs on <br />natural resource issues. Meetings have ranged in size from 5 to 200 people and topics have <br />frequently been very controversial (e.g., wolf reintroduction, logging, water development, <br />grazing public land). <br /> <br />National level discussions within the U.S. Department of Agriculture on communication and <br />coordination of Job Corps programs. Meetings varied from 20 to 100 people. <br /> <br />State and Regional Level <br /> <br />Colorado Leadership Summit on "Smart Growth and Development," Governor's Conference, <br />Denver, Colorado. Approximately 1,050 community leaders from Colorado attended a 2-day <br />summit to discuss growth management and associated impacts for Colorado. <br /> <br />"Rural Resort Region Symposium," Beaver Creek, Colorado <br />"Vampa Valley Leadership Conference," Steamboat Springs, Colorado <br />Both meetings had over 260 people that focused on problem resolution for the growth and <br />development that has impacted their communities and environments. <br />
