The Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force was established
pursuant to the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and
Control Act of 1990 (Act, P.L. 101-646). Although the primary
purpose of the Act was to reduce the impact of unintentional
introductions of nonindigenous aquatic species, the Congress
also recognized that adverse consequences can result from
intentional introductions.
Section 1207 of the Act mandates that the Task Force conduct
a review of intentional introductions policies and submit a report
of their findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the
Congress. This report is the product of the policy review
conducted by the Task Force.
