Ulller and assooiates at the University of l~j,oh1gan Museum. Several <br />speoimens f'rom the Green River collection of 1961 and 1962 are included <br />in this study. One of the many forms of lli! oollected during the <br />study is shown in Figure 12. The fish Catostomus 1atipinnis X. <br />;{yrauchen te..'tanus (Figure 13) has been referred to as the Green River <br />hybrid sucker by other authors and vnll be so referred to in tlds study. <br />SiIllOn (1946) believes the Green River spring dace to be Rhin1chth.Y.s <br />oscu1us yarrow! and the bigmouth sucker to be Catostows latipinnis <br />discobalus. <br /> <br /> <br />, I <br /> <br />Abundance <br />Species composition of the entire fish collection is pre- <br />sented in Table 5. A total. of 2,999 fish were included in the co1leotion. <br />The number of fish collected trom the Green River totaled 2,573, while <br />426 were collected trODl the Yamps. River at CasUe and 8cho parks. <br />Preservation of a.ll speoimens oaptured was impossible beoa.use some <br />species were taken in extremely large numbers, and some individuals <br />were ot large size. Numerous fish observed after the acoidental <br />stream pollution during September, 1962, were not preserved; but were <br />included in the collection figures sine a they were olosely examined and <br />identified. <br />An indication of the relative species abundance in the Green <br />a.nd Yampa rivers 1s provided by Table 5. Hadside shiners, speckled <br />dace, nanne1mouth suckers, and bonytai1 chubs vlere the mst numerous <br />species oolleoted.
