Problem

Gorge Dam on the Green River 1n November, 19621

Problem analysis
The problem has been subdivided into the following questions:

1. What apparent effect did volu.'11B of water flow,

turbidity, and temperature have on the distribution ot the fish fauna?
2. \--/hat relationships atfecting oomposi tion and dis-
tribution existed between the fish fauna and the various bottom types?

J. ~fuat relationship existed between the various
fish speoies and the presenoe or absence of specific types ot food?
4. ~fuat apparent eftect did the aocidental stream
pollution by rotenone during September, 1962, have on fish species

distribution?

Delimitations

The thesis area was the Green River from BrOwn'lI Park Bridge,

lbtfat County, Colorado, to Split l'bunta1n Campground at the south
boundary of Dinosaur National l'bnument. A 12-mile section ot the Yampa

River upstream from its connuence with the Green River to Castle Park

was also included.

Data were taken from six study areas established wi thin the

the.sis area and other accessible looations. Periodic colleotions of

t1.sh were m&de in the fall ot 1961 and the spring of 1962. Hare extensive
collections were made during the summer and fall at 1962.
