-------------------

Effort

-- Time and manpower constraints limited t.he number of passes in each
reach.

-- Because most adults occurred in the upper reach, more effort was placed
there to get best results.

-- A 6-8 week sampling window from mid-April to mid-June was available
during runoff and prior to spawning.

-- A 2-person crew covered 175 miles (282 km) of river: 3 times in upper
reach; 2 times in lower reach.

-- All large backwaters, flooded ponds and canyon mouths were netted.
Shorelines were electrofished in reaches where nettable habitats were
scarce.

--The goal was to capture as many pikeminnow as possible and cover all
areas so that all pikeminnow had some probability of being captured.
