Recaptures of stocked rawrback sucker in the Colorado and Gmmison rivers, <br />1997-2001. <br /> <br />Recommendations <br />Stock razorback sucker at a minimum of 200 mm TL. <br />Monitor stocked razorback sucker following release to detennine survival, dispersement, <br />river-reach retention, distribution, density, and mortality causes. <br />Continue marking razorback sucker stocked in the wild. <br />Monitor reproduction contribution to the adult razorback sucker population. <br />Detennine if maximum genetic diversity is being maintained in offspring sjmilar to wild <br />stock and if inbreeding is occurring. <br />Temper transport water and add salt. <br />Site acclimate stocked razorback sucker (e.g., 2-3 days). <br /> <br />Uncertainties <br />Actual survival rates of stocked fish. <br />Time of year to stock razorback sucker to yield the best survival. <br />Whether stocked razorback sucker will recruit into the adult population. <br />Whether stocked fish reproduce in the wild. <br />Whether stocked fish will be retained in reaches where suitable habitat for razorback <br />sucker reproduction may be available, or whether stocked fish have the ability to migrate <br />to those habitats. <br /> <br />13 <br />
