13

were captured. Other fish species collected in this effort were not counted. An
additional five trammel nets were set during July 11-12, representing 45 net-
hours, but no target specimens were collected and other fish sampled were not
counted. Four seine hauls were also made, but no target specimens were collected
and other species were not counted. Sampling was conducted around the entire
perimeter of the reservoir.

Due to the small number of target specimens of stocked Colorado squawfish
available for study, and due to the present size of these fish, it is recommended
that further intensive work on evaluating Colorado squawfish as a sportfish in
Kenney Reservoir, either through sampling or creel survey, be postponed
indefinitely until evidence is obtained that any of the stocked fish remaining in
the reservoir are vulnerable to ang1~ng capture. Kenney Reservoir and the White
River downstream will continue to be !samp1ed periodically as part of the
standardized monitoring program. '

~
