Job 2. Title: Gamefish predation upon endangered fishes.

Objective: To determine the incidence of predation by non-native, non-
sa1monid gamefish species upon the endangered fishes.

Job 3. Title: Northern pike habitat utilization.

Objective: To determine relative habitat utilization and preferences of adult
northern pike versus Colorado squawfish in the Yampa River during
pre-runoff, runoff, and post-runoff flow regimes.

Job 4. Title: Annual progress report.

Objective: This report will be completed by April 1991, and submitted to all
interested parties.

Job 5.

Title:

Flow regime effects on reproductive success of native
and non-native fishes in the Yampa and Colorado
rivers.

Objective: To determine the effect of spring discharge in the Yampa and
Colorado rivers upon the reproductive success of native and non-
native fishes using existing CDOW and FWS seine catch/effort data.

Job 6.

Title:

Standardized monitoring surveys

Objectives:

1) Determine trends in the populations of the endangered fishes;
2) Develop empirical models that aid our understanding of the environmental
variables that affect these population trends;
3) Determine the efficacy of management actions intended to aid in recovery
of the species; and
4) Assist in establishment of definitive recovery goals.

Job 7.

Title:

Management Strategy for Exotic Fishes Affects on
Endangered Fishes

Objectives:

1) to review potential negative impacts of undesirable, nonnative fish
species on the endangered Colorado River fishes;
2) to assess management options available to minimize negative impacts; and
3) to develop an overall strategy to address the overall problem.
