<br />Job 3. <br /> <br />Title: Northern pike habitat utilization <br /> <br />Objective: To determine relative habitat utilization and preferences of adult <br />northern pike versus Colorado squawfish in the Yampa River during <br />pre-runoff, runoff, and post-runoff flow regimes. <br /> <br />Movement and habitat use data was collected on 22 of 25 radio-tagged pike <br />and 8 recaptured pike (Table 3). Seven pike were radio tagged in October 1986 <br />and tracked through the 1986-87 winter season. One implanted transmitter <br />continued to operate beyond its expected 8 month life and data was collected <br />on movement and habitat use for this fish through November 1987. Seven more <br />pike were radio tagged in August through October 1987 and tracked through June <br />1988. Eleven pike were subsequently radio tagged in August and October 1988 <br />for continued observation. A total of 100 observations following tagging have <br />been made for 22 pike (Table 4). <br /> <br />24 <br />
