<br />. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />METHODS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The original. study proposal was amended to complete work in seven separate <br />phases, with each phase to be successfully completed before initiation of the <br />next. The seven phases were as follows: <br />Phase I - Test the radio equipment for range and suitability in the <br />Green River. <br />Phase II - Catch two Colorado squawfish and test the implantation <br />technique on them. The fish would be held for three days <br />after surgery and, if healthy at that time, the technique <br />would be considered satisfactory. <br />Phase III - Additional squawfish would be caught and tagged with <br />transmitters, up to a total of 12. <br />Phase IV - The tagged fi sh woul d be moni tored and tracked. <br />Phase V - Spawning locations would be determined by tracking the <br />squawfish and noting signs of spawning. <br />Phase VI - Continuation of squawfish tracking after spawning had <br />occurred. <br />Phase VII - Final report preparation. <br />The beginning of the actual study was postponed over two months from the <br />original proposed starting date of February 1 ~ 1978, due to delays in receipt of <br />a contract f"om the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service..
