Fourteen adult and 9 juvenile chubs <br />from Desolation and Gray canyons were also tagged but none were <br />recaptured. <br /> <br />Fishes Associated with the Rare Species <br />Table 3 summarizes the fishes, by size class, found in seine <br />samples containing rare species. These data give a preliminary <br />view of potential competition between species. Young introduced <br />species were found more often than native fishes in samples con- <br />taining rare "species. Red shiners, more than any other species, <br />were found in the same samples as rare fishes. <br /> <br />The data in Table 3 indicate that young-of-the-year Colorado <br /> <br />squawfish were found most commonly with red shiners, fathead min- <br />nows, juvenile carp, and young-of-the-year channel catfish. Juve- <br />nile squawfish were found most often with red shiners, juvenile <br />roundtail chub, and young-of-the-year flannelmouth and bluehead <br /> <br />suckers. <br /> <br />Young-of-the-year and juvenile humpback chubs were found most <br />commonly with red shiners, fathead minnows, and young-of-the-year <br />channel catfish.
