Lower Basin--Grand Canyon Area <br />i Carothers, S.W., N.H. Goldberg, G. Griffith, R. Harrison et al. <br />- 1981. A survey of the aquatic flora & fauna of the Grand <br />= Canyon. U.S. Dept. Int. Water Res. Serv, Boulder City, NV. <br />382 p. <br />States that G. elegans was last recorded in the Grand Canyon <br />area in early 1940s (based on National Park Service records, <br />no specimens to validate) but that they were taken "more <br />recently" from Spencer Creek (lower canyon area)(no source <br />- - given?) and from the Little Colorado River at Grand Falls <br />based on "Miller (1963)" (not found among Miller- <br />publications known to me and no such specimens located at <br />U. Mich. Mus. Zool.). States that G. robusta was last <br />recorded in Glen Canyon Dam area in 1966 (Ariz. Game & <br />Fish). Gila c ha occurred sporadically in collections from <br />- Lee's Ferry downstream to the lower Canyon area and were <br />thought to occur in upper Lake Mead. Concentrations occur <br />in the Little Colorado River and just upstream of it in the <br />main Colorado River. <br />Kaeding, L.R., and M.A. Zimmerman. 1982.
