,.

tor hatchery rearing ~t this time.

Closure to angling of the above mentioned river area does not
in anyway interfere with the better known stocked trout fishing

areas such as between Lee's Ferry and the Glen Canyon dam. Bright

Angel Creek can definitely be made available for angling and all
tributaries and main river below Shinumo Creek. In fact Shinumo

Creek above the falls could also be open to angling.

We obtained mammaL samples from seven of the ten primary study
sites (Lee's Ferry-R. River Mile 19-L. Buck Farm Canyon-R. Lower

Bass Camp-R, Deer Creek ~rea-L. Bridge C:lnyon Dam site-L, and

Scorpion Is1and-L). We obtained our first record of ~ntrozous

pallidus at Lee's Ferry; our first rc~ord of~itel1us 2~riegatus
at River Mile 19; our first record of ~erognathus fo~~ at
Buck Farm Canyon; our first rec'ords of Pipistre11us hesperu~,
Plecotus townsendi, Rpi10gale putorius, and Bassariscus astutus
.. '-- _ -- ' ------..-..-

from Lower Bass Camp; our first record of Bassariscus astu!~~
from Deer Creek area; and our first records of Pipistrellus he~yeru~
and Neotoma lepida from Scorpion Island. In view of the number

of additions it is obvious that monitoring studies are necessary to
obtain additional base line data.

The herpetofauna survey. was continued. In many instances
animals were captured, examined, notes recorded and SUbsequently

released in their same habitat. New locality records were obtained

for Woodhouse toad, Bufo woodhouse!, banded gecko, Cole~nyx varieg~!~s,
chuckwalla, ~~uromalus obesus, rtesert collared lizard, frotaphy!~~
insularis, CC)Qchwhip, Masticophls flagel1~, western patchnose
