In July, 1903 a fishery investiG~ticn ~as initiated on Lake Powell

financed in'part by funds provided u~der Section 8 of ~'blic Law 485, the

Colorado River Storage Act. Financial ad:ninistration of this act is based

on a July 1 to June 30 fiscal year; however, because this conflicts w~th the

najor part of field w'ork, 0. period f:"J~ Fe"::lruary 1 to ,Januury 31 \'."QS e:.;tab-

lished as the biological report year. This report covers inves~igatio~s

undertaken during the second study segment (February 1, 1964 to January 31,

1965) .

'Ihe objective of these investil3ations, us in the previous SCGlncllt, is

to develop ar~d maintain a sound fisheries progran tr.rough the cOllectic:l,

analysis, and interpretat ice of the reservoir's physic.:J.l and che::li cal rcc!:i;e::;:;

and associated biota. Funds prov.:.ded under Section 8 are administered by

the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and ',;ildlife, and this report is su'::>mittcd 1:1

fulfill~ent of the terms of that co~t~act governing the second seQl~nt.

This work has been a cooperative endeavor by the Fish and Game De;art-

ments of Utah ar:d Arizona. A report covering creel ce:1SUS and pLani:ton

studies for this invest igation seg:r:er:t has been issued by the .11.ri::ona Ga:-:1e

and Fish Department.
