<br />place there. A silt cloud was observed about 50 yards south of the obl'>cl'-
<br />vation station and on moving to this point one female (presumably)
<br />and three males were seen resting OIl the bottom, after the silt had
<br />settled and the bubbles had cleared. In about four minutes all had dis.
<br />persed and gone to deeper water.
<br />At 11.09 a.m. six males chased one female (presumably) along the
<br />shoreline over the silt strip. '1'hree males left and finally the entire grollp
<br />dispersed with no spawning activity having taken place.
<br />At n.10 a.m. another gronp of four males and one female (preSlllll-
<br />ably) went into violent action following' a short conrtship. Visibilil~'
<br />was again inrpaired and by 11.1:) a.m. all the fish had dispersed.
