After viewing, specimens were preserved in acetoformalic

acid,~AFA,(9.0 pts ethan61, 0.5 pts 40~ formaldehyde solution, 0.5

~~s glaclal~aceeic acid). Observations were made hourly through ~

the firs~ JO hours, and then every two hours until well after

hatching. When the larvae had. attained a stage at which they were

able to swim and. feed actively, samples were preserved only thrice

daily: early morning, .mid-afternoon and late evening.

These data were used i.rL cO.lljunction wi th previous information

on Xyrauchen development compiled in 1974 bY personel:at the Willow

Beach hatchery. In the earlier study, developing suckers were hous-

ed initially in an- indoor raceway with a mean temperature of 140C;

then, transferred - 1J days posthatching - to an outdoor raceway

~ihere temperatures averaged 150C. Samples were preserved daily with

1010 form.alin during the fi:cst illonth, &.Ill intermittently thereafter.

In ~ovember 1975, a {Lald expedition to Lake Mohave reservoir

was undertaken to gather infor~atioa relative to adult sexual di-

-.....,.,....,.~.'...,.,.,-- ~~-- ........ -.- """"':":"':;" -.-..-----"";"".... - '~y::>~----::.".~,',.-

--
