ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

The Regional History Center, as part of Uintah County Li-
brary, is dedicated to collecting, preserving and dispensing the
history of the surrounding region. We strive to collect all aspects
of history that have affected Uintah County and Uinta Basin.
We especially thank the writers who provided stories for this
publication, u.s. Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of Inte-
rior, for providing photos of people along the river displaying
the large fish which they caught before they became endangered,
and Mark H. Fuller for the slides he generously provided for use
in the book. Dale Stewart also provided us with many photo-
graphic images.
A special thanks to Evan Baker, Uintah County Library di-
rector, for the help and ideas he has given and for making it
possible to publish this book, the ladies on the staff of the Uintah
County Library Regional History Center, Janet Taylor, Marilyn
Hunting, and Sue Robinson for transcribing tapes, typing sto-
ries, proofreading, copy editing and other tasks and support in
the effort to publish the book.
Our thanks also to the Utah Humanities Council, particu-
larly Annie Hatch and Cynthia Buckingham, for selecting Uintah
County Library as one of the three sites in the State of Utah to
display the Moving Waters project and Nancy Dallett, who over-
saw the seven-state project. A special thanks to any other people
who have helped in any way with this endeavor.

ix
