The next morning we finished the shots with the car going
down the beach, the copter following it, taking pictures. We
worked over thirty days with our six men, plus all their men,
and the final commercial was only about three minutes long.
The film crew had six photographers, including head camera-
man Dick Durance, who was famous for his ski films. He did a
beautiful job.
After everything had been wrapped up, the production team
invited all of us to dinner in Las Vegas. PI had purchased a new
Porsche car, but he wanted to fly his plane back, so he asked if
I'd drive his car to Vegas. It was a tough assignment, but I drove
that brand new Porsche over to Vegas, then we had dinner in a
very nice restaurant. Sarah Vaughn was doing a show in Las Ve-
gas and she came in and had dinner with us, then sang us sev-
eral songs before she went back to do her show. It was just ter-
rific.
Filming this type of river run was something no one had ever
done before we did it. When the Rose Bowl football game was
televised, we got in our chairs and watched the commercials be-
cause there we were. The experience was a lot of fun. I made so
much money on that trip I was able to buy a number of rubber
boats to use in the river season the next year. I had rubber boats
all over the place. It basically financed me to get my river com-
pany started.

19
