<br />The Big Horn River heads as the Wind River in the Wind River and
<br />Absaroka ranges and becomes the Big Horn River below Wind River
<br />Canyon where its tributaries drain the Absaroka, Owl Creek, and Big
<br />Horn mountains; major tributaries include the Wind, Po po Agie,
<br />Greybull, and Shoshone rivers, Ten Sleep, Paintrock and Shell creeks.
<br />4. Tongue River.
<br />This system drains the northeast end of the Big Horn Range; major
<br />tributaries are Big and Little Goose creeks and the Little Tongue River.
<br />5. Powder River.
<br />The Powder River System drains the Powder River Basin in north and
<br />central Wyoming and a part of the east slope of the Big Horn
<br />Mountains; major tributaries include the Little Powder River, Clear, and
<br />Crazy Woman creeks.

<br />This system drains the arid plains of east-central Wyoming; most
<br />tributaries are intermittent; a major tributary is Stockade-Beaver Creek,
<br />draining the south slope of the Black Hills.
<br />9. Niobrara River.
<br />The Niobrara River System also drains the plains of east-central
<br />Wyoming; most tributaries are intermittent; a major tributary is Van
<br />Tassel Creek.

<br />The North Platte River arises in Colorado, flows into Wyoming north to
<br />Casper, thence southeast to the Nebraska state line; major tributaries
<br />include the Encampment, Sweetwater, and Laramie rivers, with many

<br />This drainage system is represented by Lodgepole, Crow, Lonetree, and
