<br />Oxygen. '. The sodium azide modification of the Winkler ~thod a-s outlined
<br />in the "Sh.ndard Methods of Water Analysisn (1955) was used to deter-
<br />mine the dissolved oxygen concentration. Results are expressed in
<br />parts per million (p.p.m.).

<br />Carbon Dioxide. The amount of free carbon dioxide recorded as parts per
<br />million (p.p.m.) was obtained by titrating 10C). cc. samples of water
<br />with N/44 Sodium Hydroxide using phenolphthalein as an indicator.
<br />
<br />Alkalinity. Alkalinity was measured by titrattnqa 100 ec. sample of
<br />water against N/50 sulfuric acid usinq phenolphthalein as an indica-
<br />tor. After this reading,. methyl orange was added to the same sample
