The flow at Sand Wash is difficult to determine because the White and
Duchesne Rivers enter the Green River between Sand Wash and the Jensen
gauge. Furthermore, the Price River enters the Green River between the
Sand Wash site and the Green River gauge which would cause the Green
River gauge readings to be higher than the flow at Sand Wash. Given
these facts, it is still apparent that backwater area at the Sand Wash
site is maximized at flows below 2,423 cfs as measured at the Jensen
gauge.

Table 9 (Appendix A) presents the backwater number, size distribution,
area, and average size of backwaters for each flow at the Sand Wash
site. The total number of all backwaters ranges from 11, at 1,430 and
1,101 cfs, to 22 at 5,260 cfs. The Sand Wash site is unique because
backwater number is maximized at the highest flow. Furthermore,
backwater numbers are much more evenly distributed among the various
size classes than at the upper sites. The average backwater size ranges
from relatively small at 5,260 (226 M) to quite large at 1,381 cfs (906
m2). Generally, the Sand Wash site has substantially fewer backwaters
and less backwater area per mile than the three upper sites.

Figure 14 (Appendix A) presents backwater area (m2) versus flow (cfs).
Bank-backwater size was maximized at 1773 cfs, channel-backwater size
was maximized at 1687 cfs and total backwater size was maximized at 1773
cfs. Figure 15 (Appendix A) presents numbers of backwaters versus flow
(cfs). Bank-backwater numbers were maximized at 1773 cfs,
channel-backwater numbers were maximized at 5260 cfs, and total
backwater numbers were maximized at 5260 cfs. Figure 16 (Appendix A)
presents backwater size distribution versus flow (cfs). The <20m2 size
class was maximized at 5260 cfs, the >20m2<200m2 size class was
maximized at 5260 cfs, the >200m2<5002 size class was maximized at 1687
cfs, the >500m2<1000m2 was maximized at 1430 cfs, and the >1000m2 class
was maximized at 1773 cfs.
Mineral Bottom

Table 10 (Appendix A) presents the area of all classes for each flow at
Mineral Bottom. Backwater area was maximized at 3,261 cfs with 3,224 m2
(0.8 ac), followed by the 3,814 cfs and 2,648 cfs flows with 1,749 m2
(0.4 ac) and 1,675 m2 (0.4 ac), respectively. Isolated pools ranged
from 0 m2 at 3,814 cfs to 502 m2 at 2,648 cfs.

Table 11 (Appendix A) presents the backwater number, size distribution,
area, and average backwater size for each flow at Mineral Bottom.
Backwater numbers were maximized at 3,261 cfs (21) followed by 3,814 cfs
and 2,748 cfs with 16 and 14 backwaters, respectively. The Mineral
Bottom site had significantly fewer and smaller backwaters than did
Island Park, Jensen, Ouray, and Sand Wash sites. Average total
backwater size was 109 m2 at 3,814 cfs, 154 m2 at 3,261 cfs, and 120 m2
at 2,748 cfs.
Bank-backwater size was maximized at 3261 cfs, channel~backwater size
was maximized at 3261 cfs and total backwater size was maximized at 3261
cfs. Figure 18 (Appendix A) presents numbers of backwaters versus flow
