'~rm

Figure 5. Principal component 3 plotted against principal component 2 for chubs
caught at Westwater the mainstem Colorado River as well as specimens from
Blackrocks. The majority of fish caught at Westwater fall into the "humpback-
unidentified" cluster. At least 5 specimens from Westwater fall into the
"roundtail" cluster, while a few individuals fall into the gap separating
Blackrocks "roundtail" chubs from "humpback" and "unidentified" chubs. A mixed
species assemblage is suggested for this site, with the inclusion of some fish
that may be hybrids between the "roundtail" and "humpback-unidentified" chubs.
Geographic variation could also explain differences between Westwater animals and
those from Blackrocks. K = RM 124.1 specimens; R = "roundtail"; H = "humpback";
B = "unidentified"
