Calibration at the Ouray Refuge was complicated by intervening diversions and
flows. Reclamation's Colorado River System Simulation model demand database
estimates that 98,000 acre-feet of water is depleted from the Green River
downstream of Jensen, Utah. This causes some problems with calibration at the
Ouray Refuge site, where calculated flows typically exceed recorded flows by
an average of 122 cfs over a 72 hour period.

At Tia Juana Bottom, additional water is added to the Green River by the
irrigation return flows and contributions by the White and Duchesne Rivers.
Calibration at this point was the most complex of all the sites the Service
undertook. The calibration was affected by upstream diversions and the
intervening flows of the Duchesne and White Rivers. Calculated differences
between simulated and recorded flows were the greatest here, but the timing
parameters appear to be in line with results at other sites.

5.7 Bibliography

[1] U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 1972.
