The' following papers provide an overview, state view, federal view,
and the view from a Recovery Team member for the REALISTIC MANAGE-
MENT OF ENDANGERED SPECIES. This panel discussion was held as a
result of the involvement of the Utah Cooperative Fishery Research
Unit on endangered fish in the upper Colorado River basin under
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Contract No. 14-16-0008-1140. This
discussion was timely and important because of the interest and prob-
lems that arose in the western states as a result of the enactment
of the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
