<br />I studied movements and habitat use of young Colorado squawfish and <br />evaluated whether their abundance in backwater habitats would change <br />either daily or seasonally with corresponding changes in daylight, water <br />temperatures, or other environmental factors. <br /> <br />METHODS AND MATERIALS <br /> <br />Young Colorado squawfish were captured in the Ouray and Labyrinth <br />Canyon areas of the Green River (Figure I). Seven backwaters were <br />located in the Ouray area and sampled during three time intervals: <br />morning (0900 - 1100 h), afternoon (1330 - 1700 h),' and night (2200 - <br />2400 h) from 30 October to 5 November 1979. Another site was selected <br />in Labyrinth Canyon and sampled 14-17 April 1980.
