We located Beaman's exact <br />camera station by parallax between tl1(' <br />near and far rims of the canyon and by <br />identifying rocks and vegetation-still <br />the same-on the canyon rim just be- <br />neath the camna, Below, tamarisks <br />have grown up along the river bank <br />where sandbars show in Beaman's <br />photograph. <br />The rocks in view range from the <br />Hermosa Formation to the Navajo <br />Sandstone. Along the rivn, the 100.vcr- <br />most c1ifr is Hermosa; the top of the <br />highest c1ilr is ((H'med by the basal part <br />or the Cedar Mesa Sandstone l\lelnbn <br />or the Cutler Fonnation, which hne is <br />bufrsandstone with sparse interbeds or <br />gray marine limestone, Between the <br />lmvest and highest dills arc slopes and <br />ledges or the Rico Formation, <br />At the skyline on the right is Grand <br />View Point, a c1ill' or Wingate <br />Sandstone capped by Kayenta Forma- <br />tion. Slopes and ledges below the Win- <br />gate are Chinle, Moenkopi, and the <br />upper members of the Cutler. 'rhe spire <br />on the left is Wingate capped by <br />Kayenta.
