ment. The topography of the Basin is one of highly dissected mesas
and mountains, giving a very rugged, wild aspect to the country.
Those who have explored the canyons of Dinosaur National Monu-
ment or have been to the bottom of Grand Canyon have experienced
the ruggedness that characterizes most of the Colorado Basin. The
character of both the Colorado and Green Rivers is being greatly
modified by man with the construction of Glen Canyon and Flaming
Gorge Dams. When completed, the resultant reservoirs will impound
hundreds of miles of these rivers.
