166 UTAH ACADEMY PROCEEDINGS, VOL. 45, PART 1, 1968
Flaming Gorge Dam continues to operate, new extremes in flow, `.
temperature, and perhaps in some aspects of water chemistry can
be expected. As a result, the invertebrate community, particularly
that in the first 20 km below the dam, may never stabilize and will
continually be in stages of succession as varying conditions favor
some groups then others.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This research work was under the direction of the Utah
Cooperative Fishery Unit, which is a cooperative program of
the Utah State Division of Fish and Game, Utah State University,
and the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. Investigations car-
ried on in 1964-65 were under the financial sponsorship of the
Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, and that portion carried
on in 1967 by National Science Foundation Grant No. GB-5515.
Personnel of the U. S. National Park Service at Dinosaur National
Monument, the U. S. Geological Survey at Salt Lake City, the
Bureau of Reclamation at Flaming Gorge Dam, the U. S. Forest
Service at Dutch John, Utah, and the Utah State Division of
Fish and Game willingly supplied information and assistance in
many ways. Dr. George F. Edmunds reviewed the manuscript.
