<br />flowering whitetop plants at the sites excavated in 1998 grew from root fragments that were <br />broken during excavation. Thus, whitetop occurred at these sites prior to excavation and became <br />re-established after excavation. The abundance of giant whitetop varied among all sites. The <br />change in vegetation during this growing season at the Johnson Unit 4 site is displayed in Figure <br />3.12. <br />Table 3.4.
