Several reservoirs with potential supplies of industrial water are
part of project plans not yet authorized. Alternately, these or
other reservoirs could be built by private or other non-Federal
interests if the demand for storage water arose in the near future.

Major Contracts for Industrial Water Delivery From Federal Facilities -
Major contracts with the Secretary for delivery of industrial water to
State or private entities now in force or under negotiation are pre-
sented in tables 8 and 9. These contracts cover both delivery from the
reservoir or release to the stream system with pickup by the contractor
at a downstream point. Water is presently being utilized by Southern
Union Gas Company and the San Juan Powerplant from Navajo Reservoir,
and the Navajo Powerplant from Lake Powell. The Jim Bridger Powerplant
will require water in 1974 from Fontenelle Reservoir,

Following are particulars on specific reservoir contracts,

Navajo Reservoir

1. WESCO Contract held by Utah International, Inc. - Water to
be used for coal gasification plant starting in 1978 at one-
half contract or 22,000 AF/YR until 1982 when full contract
amount of 44,000 AF/YR is planned. Plant capacity of 1,000 MCF
made up of 4-250 MCF units each using 11,000 AF/YR. (Water
for Energy tabulation uses 15,000 AF/YR per 250 MCF unit for a
total of 60,000. Apparent difference is WESCO's intention to
use dry-cooling facilities.) WESCO's current plan is to use
only 35,300 AF/YR for the 4 units.

2. El Paso - Contract pending for water to be used for coal
gasification by El Paso Gas Company. First unit of 288 MCF
is planned for initial operation in 1978 with 2 additional
'units of 250 MCF each projected with lon-line in 1982.
(See above note per water use.)

Fontenelle Reservoir

1. Pacific Power and Light Company - Portion of first Wyoming
Contract - 35,000 acre-feet total (reducible to 25,000 in periods
of shortages) to be used for cooling at the Jim Bridger 2000 Mw
fossil fired powerplant at Rock Springs, Wyoming. On-line dates
have been stepped up from 1980's to late 1970's. Each 500 Mw
unit is forecast to use 9000 acre-feet of water per year.

2. Sun Oil Company - Optioned. No firm plans announced.

3. Second Wyoming Contract - The second contract which is
under negotiation would allow Wyoming to market 125,000 acre-
feet from Fontenelle.

30
