FRH received eggs
only after fertilization and early incubation, and eggs would stick to everything from containers they
were shipped in to pieces of equipment eggs were counted with (glass beakers and mechanical egg
counter, Jensorter). Clumping of eggs was a problem in egg trays. Poor water circulation over all
eggs caused some of the eggs in clumps to smother. Fertilization And Fertility counts
Fish Research Hatchery personnel did not check fertility of egg shipments from "DNFH.
Quality of eggs was based on percent hatched out (0-20 %).

Sensitive Stage
Pikeminnow egg development is so rapid that egg shipment should occur 2 hours after
spawning and conclude by the 14th hour after the spawn is taken to reduce the risk of damaging eggs
in the sensitive stage. All shipment of eggs to the FRH from DNFH occurred 24 hours after
fertilization and the quality of those eggs was poor.

.
