The Animas River also flows south from the San Juan <br />Mountains in Colorado and is confluent with the San Juan River in <br />Farmington. Discharge in the Animas remains largely unregulated <br />by upstream dams, so that natural spring peaks and summer/fall <br />low flows are exhibited. Mean annual discharge of the Animas <br />River at Farmington (1913-1985, gauge # 09364500) is 26.4 m3/s; <br />high and low flow values of 714 m3/s and 0.028 m3/s, <br />respectively, have been recorded. The discharge of the Animas <br />River can approach that of the San Juan during spring runoff <br />(Table 1). <br />Table 1.
