32
reproduction, were abundant in some ponds. They were treated the same
as fish when ponds were drained; all were recovered, sub-sarnples were
measured, and total biomass recorded.
Weights (Wr) and TL of razorback sucker larvae recovered from
different treatments were compared using analyses of variance.
Non parametric analysis of salamander biomass, and volumes of prey
Mmianisms in ponds and fish guts were done with the Mann-Whitney U-
test. Strauss' Li was tested for among-treatment differences by
regression analysis and comparisons of slopes, and for differences
E
from zero by a Student's t-test. Loss of samples necessitated
combination of data from weeks 2 and 3 for some statistical purposes.
General tests for significance among treatments or other oamparisons
were by analysis of variance or Student's t-test. Statements of
significant difference are at the 0.1 level, unless otherwise noted.
Mean values in text are given ± one standard error, where appropriate.
Raw data from which figures and tables were compiled are available
from Papoulias or from Dexter NFH. All data manipulation and analysis
was perforated on an IHK PC cmputer using IotusO, Systat® and
Sigmaplot® software.
