Discharge levels were 11,200 cfs (left map) and 1,240 cfs (right map). <br />Eddies <br />Eddies form primarily at the mouths of backwaters, and to a lesser extent in embayments along <br />shorelines. Total area of eddy habitat was therefore maximized at the same discharge level as were <br />backwaters, at about 7,620 cfs. Eddy area decreased with declining flow until flows reached 2,870 <br />cfs. Below this level, eddy area increased with flow modestly and was relatively stable (1,416- <br />1,615 m2) between flows of 1530 and 810 cfs. When discharge declined to 557 cfs, eddy area was <br />cut to half (802 m2) that at 810 cfs. <br />24
