3. If Colorado squawfish spawning is documented in the reach, flows <br />necessary for this aspect of their life history should also be <br />identified. <br />4. The BR streamflow gage should be used in the future to monitor flows <br />in the reach because a) it is a direct reading, b) it does not require <br />subtracting withdrawal flows for irrigation from gages further <br />upstream, and c) instantaneous data can-be retrieved electronically <br />via satellite downlink. The USGS gage at Whitewater that measures <br />streamflow for the mainstem Gunnison River and CDWR gage that measures <br />water withdrawn by the Redlands Canal should only be used to cross- <br />check flows or used as a backup in the event that the BR gage is not <br />operational. <br />LITERATURE CITED <br />jII <br />Anderson, R. 1994.
