3. Experimentally treat 1-3 high-density centrarchid backwaters with rotenone or <br />other chemical piscicide while seasonally isolated from the main-channel and then <br />monitor recolonization rates. <br />4. Perform experimental manipulations of structure (removal or addition of rocks, <br />branches, vegetation, etc.) in centrarchid-inhabited backwaters and then evaluate <br />effects on centrarchid abundance. <br />5.
