Each season, one pass was made through the study area with an <br />electrofishing boat, followed by a second pass using an electrofishing barge. The boat <br />was used in large backwaters too deep for wading; the barge was used in backwaters too <br />small to access or effectively maneuver within by boat. The electrofishing boat was a 5- <br />m-long, hard-bottomed, jon boat equipped with a Honda EM 5000 SX generator and a <br />Coffelt WP-15 that produced pulsed DC. One person was stationed on the bow to net <br />fish while another drove. The barge was a 1 x 2-m-fiberglass tub equipped with a Pow'r <br />Gard 3500-watt generator and a Smith Root GPP.
