The concrete used in this contract was supplied by Whitewater Building Materials Corporation, <br />located at 940 South Tenth street, Grand Junction, Colorado. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Concrete Mix esegn The contractor submitted a 4,000psi concrete mix design which was <br />reviewed and was approved with minor adjustments . <br />Forms The contractor used Symons forms for the floor of the Fish Passageway Chute. <br />However, the Symons forms the contractor initially began using for the Forebay Structure did <br />not work well on the Fish Passageway Chute wall portion because of their weight and the forms <br />were not easily adaptable to the chute wall portion because of the sloped floors. <br />Curing omponnd The contractor used Res-X curing compound (clear) and Wax Emulsion <br />Cure (white) from Burke, San Mateo, California 94402. <br />Reinforcement Grade #60 rebar from Rocky Mountain Rebar, Delta, Colorado was used in all <br />the reinforced concrete placed under this contract. <br />Heating and Tenting Fiber reinforced visqueen was used to tent and two to three 100,000 btu <br />kerosene heaters were used to heat and protect freshly placed concrete. Insulated blankets were <br />sometimes used to protect the concrete when overnight tempratures allowed. <br />December 8, 1995, contractor's carpenter crew begins setting forebay slab and footer forms for <br />wingwalls. <br />December 18, 1995, contractor places concrete at forebay slab and wingwall footers. <br />Reference Photos: CN-1745-417-16NA and CN-1745-417- 17NA <br />Note: reinforcement, waterstop and 42-inch diameter concrete pipe spindle for bypass pipe. <br />December 19, 1995, carpenters strip footer forms from forebay slab and wingwall footers. <br />Reference Photos: CN-1745-417-42NA and CN-1745-417-105NA <br />Note: cold weather protection for forebay structure concrete placement. <br />December 21, 1995, carpenter crew begins setting wingwall, and forebay exterior and interior <br />Const-6
