ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This study was funded by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation under
Memorandum of Agreement Numbers 14-16-006-78-45 and 8-07-40-X0743, and by
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources under Federal Aid to Fisheries
Restoration Projects F-43-R and F-28-R.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Forest Service, and Utah Division
of Wildlife Resources., particularly the DWR Northeast Regional Office,
willingly offered personnel to assist with various phases of the study.
Dave Wegner and Tom Burke, of Bureau of Reclamation, and Maureen Wilson,
Mark Holden, and Clay Perschon, of the DWR Resource Analysis Section,
played lead roles in collection of field data for the Instream Incremental
Method, and helped with developing probability of use curves (from field
data by J. Gosse), and getting the physical habitat simulation models
running.
Bruce Schmidt, Flaming Gorge Project leader during the entire period
field work was conducted, provided day to day field supervision, guidance,
and assistance for the project. He was also responsible for the design and
implementation of the creel survey and for the creel analysis computer
program employed by the study. Steve Brayton and Roger Schneidervin, the
current Flaming Gorge Project biologists, assisted in review of the
manuscript and provided much of the data collected after 1982.
The late Dr. Ross Bulkley, of the Utah Cooperative Fishery Research
Unit, Utah State University, Logan, Utah, critiqued the original manuscript
and urged a much more comprehensive and, hopefully, comprehensible approach
to the final report than originally anticipated. We can only hope that Dr.
Bulkley would find this version an improvement.
-xv-
