21
trout in concentrations as low as 40 µg/L. These effects
primarily involved a progressive loss of motor function
to the point of immobilization after 15 and 20 days of
exposure. Death, when it occurred, resulted from
debilitation and other secondary effects. These sub-
lethal effects were not present or only slightly exp-
ressed in bluegills and channel catfish. Tests with
rainbow trout revealed no significant differences in
susceptibility among yolk-sac fry, swim-up fry, and
fingerlings. Fingerling rainbow trout fed a diet forti-
fied with 10 ppm chlorowax 5000 for 82 days showed
no gross pathological effects, although they accu-
mulated a whole body residue level of 1.1 ppm.
However, growth of the treated fish was reduced.
the toxicity by 2- to 15-fold. Toxicity to cutthroat
trout was increased threefold when the pH was in-
creased from 7.5 to 9.0. A similar effect was not noted j
in lake trout, which were much less sensitive to chlor-
pyrifos than were other species of fish. The TILC50 for
lake trout was 45µg/L and the cumulative toxicity
index was 5.5, indicating only slight cumulative toxic
action.
COPPER COUNT
Chemical Name: Copper ammonium sulfate with and
without sulfur
CHLORPYRIFOS
Alternate Names: 0xy-Cop-8L, Oxy-Cop-SLS
Chemical Name: 0,0-Diethyl 0-(3,5,6-trichloro-2- Principal Use: Fungicide
pyridyl) phosphorothioate
Sample Description: Spray concentrate: Copper Count
Alternate Names: CAS 2921-88-2, Dowco 179, S, 13%1; Copper Count N, 8%'
Dursban, Lorsban
SUMMARY OF ACUTE TOXICITY
Principal Use: Insecticide
Sample Description: Technical material, 97%
SUMMARY OF ACUTE TOXICITY
96-h LC50
Test Stage or Temp 95% Cl
organism wt (g) (C) (µg/L)
G.lacustris M 20 0.11
0.07-0.17
Pteronarcys YC2 15 10
7-13
Claassenia YC2 15 0.57
0.40-0.80
Cutthroat trout 1.4 10 18
16-22
Rainbow trout 1.4 13 7.1
6.0-8.4
Lake trout 2.3 12 98
96-h LC50
Test Wt Temp 95% CI
organism (g) (C) (µg/L)
Rainbow trout' 1.0 12 121
90-164
Fathead minnow' 1.1 17 154
92-255
Bluegill' 1.2 17 13,700
9,360-20,400
Rainbow trout' 1.0 12 20.4
14.8-28.2
Fathead minnow' 1.0 17 35.9
26.3-48.9
Bluegill' 1.2 17 3,280
1,860-5,750
COPPER SULFATE
54-180 Chemical Name: Copper sulfate pentahydrate
Channel catfish 0.8 18 280
206-381 Alternate Names: Blue copperas, Bluestone, Blue
vitriol, CAS 1344-73-6
Bluegill 0.6 18 2.4
1.1-5.1 Principal Use: Algicide, fungicide
NOTE: Variations in temperature from 2° to 18°C for Sample Description: Technical material, 100% (about
rainbow trout and 13° to 29°C for bluegills increased 25% elemental copper)
